Victorian rules in short
- Since 1 May 2026, termite protection in Victoria is no longer limited to council-designated termite areas.
- The National Construction Code’s termite provisions now set the requirement, and your building surveyor confirms what each project needs.
- Where termite management is required it follows AS 3660.1, and a durable notice must be fixed on the building.
Declared termite area status of the councils around Ballarat:
| Council | Status | Includes |
|---|---|---|
| City of Ballarat | Not declared | Ballarat, Wendouree, Sebastopol, Lucas, Miners Rest |
| Golden Plains Shire Council | Declared | Smythesdale, Meredith, Rokewood |
| Moorabool Shire Council | Partly declared | Ballan, Bacchus Marsh, Gordon |
